Before reading the Cardi B, interview in the April 2018 issue of Cosmopolitan, I had never heard an entire Cardi B, song. It had nothing to do with her as a person, ummm I don't know her, nor was it what she used to do for a living, or what she does in her personal life, none of that is any of my business. If someone is an entertainer, well entertain me and keep it moving. Being an older woman, there are a few stations on the radio that I don't listen to, and Cardi B, is not on the stations I frequent. After reading the Cosmopolitan interview, and reading other articles and interviews, I fell in like with Cardi B.
I was online looking for what's going on in the world today, and came across a caption, "Cardi B Gives Her Most Explicit Interview Yet", and that caught my eye. I thought to myself, from what I've heard, if she's already unfiltered and in your face, what could this interview say. I read it and the main thing that stood out to me is how unapologetic she is for who she is and where she comes from. So many people have an opinion about how a person should be, and how they should act, and if you are not what each person expects, somehow you are the one that is wrong. One can never live up to all of those standards, you will always fall short somewhere.
According to what I've read, Cardi B, stands up for strippers, stating that it's a job and the strippers are humans with minds and feelings, and should be respected. If stripping, or any other profession is not for you, why not keep your opinions to yourself and go on about your business? Why is it up to you how others carry themselves, and how they choose to get their bills paid? How is is up to you what someone else is comfortable with? Who made you the authority over everyone in the public eye? If there were no entertainers we'd have to entertain each other, or even ourselves, and some people are not good at rapping, singing, acting, or telling jokes. So, can you not just change the channel if a show, or song comes on that you don't like? Is it really that hard to keep your opinions to yourself, and allow a person to be the individual they were created or just turned out to be?
Everyone wants people to be original, or true to themselves, until people are original, and true to who they are. That can be confusing, and what is good for one may not be good for another. I just want to take this time to applaud Cardi B, for literally being a "Boss". She built a very successful brand, and runs her own business, while some of those with opinions only sit and wish they could follow their dreams, or be as successful. It can be tough always having to defend yourself, one can only imagine how that can wear on you, but I love the fact that Cardi B, as an entertainer is true to herself.. A lot of people, whether you like it or not, could learn from that part of her alone. There is so much more people could focus on, like making money, and bettering their community, but that is too much like right I'm guessing. There are only two types of energy, that is either positive or negative, and people choose to either entertain one or the other. So, be mindful of that fact when you are "just stating your opinion".
